WE TURN NAUTICAL WASTE
INTO SEA JEWELS

I am Filipa, a Portuguese certified artisan, mother of 2 & passionate about Nature and its immense beauty.

Friyaybyfilipa was created in 2018 with the intent to transform maritime natural and repurposed materials such as seashells, fish skeletons, teeth and seaweed, maritime wood and other natural treasures into organic premium jewellery.

ORGANIC JEWELLERY

All processes are 100% handmade, with the immense care and dedication I believe the wearer feels. From handpicking the structures at Portuguese shores, to design, execution, publicity & sales, this is really a one woman show.

All pieces are unique, 100% handmade and perfectly imperfect ensuring no two designs are exactly alike, reflecting the beauty off the oceano and its raw natural elegance. The pieces blend simplicity with sophistication catering to diverse styles -from minimalist to statement pieces, a bit like nature itself.

RECYCLE IS THE NEW CLASSY
JOIN THE REVOLUTION

Bringing Nature into everyday life in an elegant and refined way by reusing improbable and wasted materials side by side with noble and selected ones, is what drives me, truly hoping to elevate maritimum natural treasures, giving them a second life and placing them where they truly belong – the Spotlight.

Making people stop the frenetic rhythm we all live at, for a minute, and admire the beauty of the Natural world is the goal.

We end up loving what we admire and chances are that we will fight to save it.

It is for no reason that we all keep our jewels in a special place, right?

We protect them from humidity, tarnish, from our younglings hands and so on…

Why? Because we value them, they are special, they are treasures! Are they not?

So is Nature. At a much, much higher level.

Therefore no interference or disruption is done to the natural ecosystem and marine life. I simply manually collect, clean and resin each piece to preserve colours, details and strengthen structures.

Only naturally empty shells are transformed into wearable art!

In the SunCoast of Portugal, where all the structures are collected, beach sand is mechanically cleaned, meaning it is all grinded and dumped into the garbage.

This has been widely discussed with Portuguese authorities & marine biologists which encourage this project believing it will raise awareness for the wonders of maritime life, the importance of reusing existing materials, reducing environmental impact and saving planet resources.
